“Les Amants” Oil on Canvas

A Note on Gallery Life and Radio Silence

There is a great challenge in the alignment of creative passion with economic necessity. It is such a reward to now earn my living promoting local arts of Oakland, CA, my beautiful home.  Since August 2015, I have been actively managing & curating  The Gallery @ Panorama Framing in Oakland, California. We are currently exhibiting bi-monthly art shows of local artist with openings coinciding with Grand Avenue First Thursdays.  In addition to the rotating gallery shows, PFI Gallery is hosts the works of 50+ local Bay Area Artists in our print shop.  Join me in the gallery for an artist reception, a coffee, or follow along from afar via social media.  Copious amounts of love and gratitude for the ones who continue to support my creative journey, successes and stagnations.

From the exhibition Appropriated Topography by Nicollette Smith. On view in the Gallery @ Panorama Framing through March 3- May 1, 2016.

SOLO SHOW at ALCHEMY in Oakland January through March 2015

Hall Felker’s Personae series of paintings on paper are on show at Alchemy Bottle Shop’s upstairs gallery for the first three months of this year!  Please stop by any time during regular business hours to see the show.   Alchemy Bottle Shop is located at 3256 Grand Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610

Info about the show and artist:

The psychological definition of Persona comes from Carl Jung’s theory of identity as a mask with which we all create as a presentation of self to the world.  With one respect it exposes our personality, but on the other hand also creates a concealment of the true self.  This show explores the idea of multiple identities, how they can be conveyed and concealed, through our bodies, environment and also exhibited through our possessions and consumptions.  Hall’s paintings create narratives of ruptured identity, vanity, and consumerism through a play of layered images and pattern.   Abstract and surrealist influence contributes to the deconstruction and re-examination of social and personal constructs.  She often chooses to work with paper due to its fragility and impermanence in exploration of the parallels its innate characteristics have with those of identity.

Hall Felker lives in the San Francisco Bay Area by way of Nashville, Tennessee.  Hall received her B.F.A from San Francisco Art Institute in 2013 and B.A. in Psychology in 2009 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.   She has previously exhibited at Mirus Gallery and Diego Rivera Gallery in San Francisco.  Hall has exhibited locally at Sahin Gallery and Backstock Gallery at Oak Common, where she also has guest curated.
